Celcom launches mega postpaid with data cashback Others

PETALING JAYA: Celcom Axiata Bhd launched its all-new MEGA postpaid plan, the first in Malaysia that allows users to cash in unused data.
Chief product and innovation officer Roy Ong said on Wednesday MEGA is also the first postpaid product in the country that offers users the flexibility to choose their preferred internet plan.
The MEGA base plan comes with a 30GB internet quota for RM80 per month.
Users can choose add-ons for additional benefits between Unlimited Mobile Internet or Lightning Mobile Internet Speed with packages starting from RM18.
Those opting for Lightning Mobile Internet Speed can exchange 10Gb of their unutilised data for a RM5 cashback per month with the Boost e-Wallet app.
The cashback promotion is valid for two months, after which it will be reviewed to suit customers’ needs, Ong said at the MEGA launch here today.
He said demand for higher internet quotas has been rapidly increasing over the years with more content available on the internet.
From 2015 to 2019, data usage in Malaysia jumped 10-fold from 1.5GB per month to 15GB per month.
Citing the latest data, he said 49 per cent of Malaysians use four hours or less of data a day.
Meanwhile, 24 per cent use the internet five to eight hours and 27 per cent use it more than nine hours a day.
He said Celcom MEGA can cater to those who need to use the internet longer on a daily basis.
Free roaming in 12 countries is also available for users opting for the highest MEGA package for RM188.
Customers can also share their internet quota with up to three supplementary lines by adding family lines at RM40 per line to their primary plan.
